One-Storey America

In the autumn of 1935 Ilya Ilf and Evgeny Petrov, the correspondents of the newspaper "Pravda" and the authors of the books "12 chairs" and "Golden calf", went to America. For three and a half months they took on the new "Ford" twice to cross the country from end to end. The result of this trip and began a cycle of sketches "one-story America" — the last work of co-authors, published a separate edition in 1937. Apparently, they were waiting for vicious satire on the society of capitalism, but it turned out good and clever book depicting the life of Americans, about meetings with different people, full of interesting stories and observations.
