Vasily Andreyevich Zhukovsky (1783 - 1852) is one of the most prominent figures of the `Golden age` of Russian poetry. The author of `Prayer of the Russian people`, which became the anthem `God save the Tsar`, the famous ballads (`horror poetry` of his time), masterpieces of children's classics:`Tom thumb`, `puss in boots`, V. A. Zhukovsky was the spiritual mentor of Pushkin, Gogol, Nikolay Yazykov, Ivan Kireevsky and... the heir to the Russian throne.
